David A. “Sonny” May, Sr. age 54 of Clinton, passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospitals following and extended illness. A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. Monday, December 7, 2015 at the Pape Funeral Home. Following the visitation a dinner and celebration of Sonny’s life will continue at the Church of the Open Door. All are invited to attend.

Dave was born in Clinton on February 6, 1961, the son of Virgil B. and Eloise E. (Schipper) May. He married Julie DeMarr. Sonny had managed a cranberry marsh and had also been a fire watcher in Hayward, Wisconsin. He had worked in the construction field and been employed with Economy Coating. Sonny was affiliated with the LCO Tribe. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, his dog Danny, making “dream catchers” and whittling canes. He was a nature lover.

Dave is survived by four children; Nicole (Brad Herold) May of Arcadia, WI, Toni (Gerardo) Ixba of Clinton, David May, Jr. of Clinton and Joseph Chandler May (and his mother, Louise Chandler)of Hayward, WI; seven grandchildren, Rio, Santiago, Alexcia, Loucas, Andrew, Rogelio and Gerardo; his mother, Eloise May of Clinton; four sisters, Ethel May of Clinton, Debbie Dersham of Albany, IL, Connie (Rick) Greene of Spring Green, WI and Patty (Niles) Davis of Clinton; two brothers, Ronald May, Sr. and Robert Dick both of Clinton and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death his father, his grandfather and two brothers, Jacob and Virgil Dick.
