Mary Lou Kerege Clark, age 63, of Montgomery, IL, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at Season's Hospice Center in Naperville, IL. She was born August 2, 1952 in Clinton, IA, the daughter of Louis J. and Geraldine nee Shanahan Kerege.
Mary Lou attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from Mt. St. Clare Academy in 1970. She also graduated from Clinton Academy of Beauty in 1971. She was a cosmetologist at Beauty Lane Salon in Clinton, IA and later worked for the District Court, Seventh Judicial District in IL until 1992. She was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Oswego, IL and was a founding member of the Elizabeth Ministries, where she knitted blankets for new-borns and was known as "The Blanket Lady." She volunteered at Boulder Hill Elementary School in Montgomery, IL and Our Lady of Good Counsel School in Aurora, IL. She loved to knit and cross-stitch and following Chicago sports. She enjoyed the Iowa Hawkeyes and Prince of Peace basketball and their great coach, her cousin, Gerry Murphy. She was also a member of various Myasthenia Gravis support groups, and started an online group for children.
She is survived by her husband Gary Russell Clark (whom she married on April 3, 1982 in Clinton, IA), a daughter Jennifer Marie Clark of Chicago, IL, cousins Donald Sievers, Nancilee Duestenhaus, Joseph Shanahan, Dennis Patrick Murphy, Tim Murphy, Gerry (Trudy) Murphy, Melissa Murphy, Patricia (Bill) Monahan, Maureen (Jonathon Arons) Monahan, Joseph Monahan, III, Dan Kerege, Bob Kerege, Ray Kerege, Mary (Randy) McAllister, Caroline Steele, Kathy (J.V.) Matthews, Cindy (Grant) Wheeler, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Bob and Joanne Clark and Steve and Karen Clark, 4 nieces and 4 nephews, 10 great nieces and nephews and 2 God brothers Michael Hanafan and Carl Schmitz, Jr. a God-daughter Carmen Rannfeldt and special friends Beth Rannfeldt and Brian D. Guy.
She is preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law and mother-in-law and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, December 3, 2015 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY, 1801 S. Douglas Road, Oswego, IL 60543. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 4, 2015 at 10 AM at St. Anne Catholic Church, 551 Boulder Hill Pass, Oswego, IL 60543. There will be an additional visitation at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Dr. Clinton, Iowa) from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. with a committal service at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 7. Burial at Clinton Lawn Cemetery will immediately follow the committal service. Memorials may be made to St. Anne Trust Fund, 551 Boulder Hill Pass, Oswego, IL 60543 or Sunday Mass at Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, 1140 W. Jackson Blvd., Chicago, IL 60607.
