James R. Wilkerson, 72, of Port Orange, Florida and formerly of Clinton, passed away in Port Orange on September 22, 2015. Honoring his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded with a Celebration of Life taking place from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 9, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive, Clinton). A private burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Jim was born April 1, 1943 in Davenport, Iowa the son of Max and Rita (Murphy) Wilkerson. He was united in marriage to Sandy Ocar on July 3, 1965.
Jim was a manager for the A.C. Nielsen Co., working there for many years and completing his career with them in 1997 in Colorado. He then moved with his family to Florida where he lived out his retirement years.
Jim enjoyed going to breakfast each morning with friends, and reading detective novels, but his greatest joy was going on cruises with his wife, Sandy, of 50 years.
Jim is survived by his wife - Sandy of Port Orange, FL; one daughter - Sue (Mark) Mussmann of Camanche, IA; one son - Steve Wilkerson of Port Orange, FL; two grandchildren - Jacob and Morgan Mussmann; three brothers - Dick (Marge) Wilkerson of Davenport, IA, Bob (Jan) Wilkerson of Olathe, KS and Denny (Linda) Wilkerson of Encinitas, CA and one sister - Barb Bordwell of Canton, GA.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son - Michael.
