Rita Lynn Seastrand, 68, of Calamus, Iowa, died peacefully surrounded by family and friends, Sunday, December 27, 2015, in her home.
Rita was born April 29, 1947, to Myrtle and Lawrence Koslofsky in North Dakota. She was raised in Calamus. Rita graduated from Calamus High School in 1965. She was united in marriage to Bus Seastrand on September 5, 1969, at Faith Lutheran Church in Calamus. While living in California, Rita began working as a supervisor for Equifax, which later became ChoicePoint, a position she kept when they moved back to Iowa in 2003. She retired in 2005.
Rita was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Calamus. She had been a member of Magnus M. Petersen American Legion Auxiliary #466 since 1997, serving as vice president since 2008. She loved sitting by a campfire with the people close to her. Her most favorite pastime was going to the casinos with Bus.
She is survived by her husband; a son, Lance Seastrand of Davenport; grandchildren, Jessica and Austin; nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law Vickie (Denny) O’Neill and special caregivers, Linda Schwennen andDenise Levien.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Connie Grau and Rhonda Koslofsky.
Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 4, 2016, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at Faith Lutheran Church, Calamus, with the Rev. William Runaas, Jr. and the Rev. Stacy Grau officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Calamus.
