George Sterk of DeWitt died Saturday at the DeWitt Community Hospital. He was 80 years old.
The funeral service was Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, DeWitt.
Sterk was born Dec. 26, 1900, in Browns Station, Iowa, to Joseph and Margaret Sterbenz Sterk.
He married Marie Skoff Feb. 5, 1930 in Sugar Creek, Iowa. He was retired from the Rock Island Arsenal.
Sterk is survived by three daughters: Elizabeth Burger of Davenport, Donna McAleer of DeWitt, and Mary Dittmer of DeWitt; a son George, of West Liberty; a brother John, of Maquoketa, and 21 grandchildren.
He was preceeded in death by his wife in 1974, three brothers, and two sisters.
