Funeral Services For Rolla Pelham Held From Home Saturday

Roll E. Pelham, born and raised and all his life a citizen of this community, passed from this life June 9th, at the age of forty-five years, lacking but a few days. He was born on the twenty-ninth day of July, 1883, on the home farm, on which his brother Bruce now lives. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Pelham. He was joined in marriage to Miss Margaret Neilson (sic), October 5th, 1912 and to them was born one son, Robert. Mr. Pelham is survived by the following immediate relatives, his wife, his son Robert, three brothers, Bruce and Jay Pelham of this community; Neal Pelham of Independence, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Tom Clement of DeWitt; and Mrs. Will Dann of Camanche. Besides these are many more distant relatives.

Mr. Pelham was a member of Endeavor Lodge A. F. and A. M. No. 610 Low Moor and the Consistory of Clinton, also the O. E. S. of DeWitt. He was baptized by Rev. E. E. Clements during his recent illness.

The community suffers the loss of an excellent citizen, a man of good character and of industrious habits. His interest in the welfare of others found expression in doing good to the poor and by showing an interest in children. The memory of him will be pleasant to all who knew him best, and his place in the community will be greatly missed.

Funeral services were conducted at the farm home east of DeWitt, Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock by Rev. E. E. Clements pastor of the DeWitt Methodist Episcopal church. Mrs. E. L. Conover and Mrs. E. J. Miller sang two selections. The bearers were Floyd Smith, Charles Everman, John Gerhman, Lowell Dann, Chas. Hogg, and Chas. Christiansen. Burial was had in the Elmwood cemetery of DeWitt.
