Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Lemke Funeral Homes, North Chapel, 2304 North 2nd Street for Jeffrey Lackas, 41 of Clinton, who died Sunday, May 30, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center North. The Rev. John Stack will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jeff Rogis, Brad Holesinger, Kevin Schroeder, Jim Anderson, Rus Houzenga and Seamus Wilkerson.
Honorary Pallbearers are LaVerne Houzenga, Charles "Chick" Ladehoff, Bob Holesinger, Tom Kelly, Liz Dangel, Kade and Karson Egger. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Friday, June 4th at Lemke Funeral Home, North Chapel.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Animal Birth Control or the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
Jeffrey Lackas was born January 14, 1963 in Clinton, Iowa to Joseph Peter and Alice Mae Umbaugh Lackas.
He was employed at Quality Ready Mix of Clinton for over 14 years as a driver. He was also a police cadet for many years and a member of the Army National Guard.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Second Reformed Church in Fulton. He was an avid hunter, he enjoyed reading, he loved his dog "Belle", and he was a friend to everyone that knew him.
On November 17, 1990 he married Colleen Simmons in GooseLake, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife, Colleen, of Clinton; a son Jeffrey Braxton, at home; a daughter, Britny Kaye Allen Lackas, at home; 2 brothers, James (Shelly) Lackas, of Clinton and John (Kim) Lackas, of Bryant; a very special Aunt, Judy May of Clinton; 2 special nephews, Kade and Karson Egger of Davenport and many nieces and nephews, many Aunts and Uncles; a step Mom, Bernice Randall of Miles; 5 step-brothers, Frank Randall of Almont, Bill (Michelle) Randall of Camanche, Edward Randall, David Randall and Scott Randall all of Miles; 2 step-sisters, Denise Randall of Omaha, Nebraska and Natalie Randall of Camanche; Step-Grandma, Jessie Mussmann, step nieces and nephews, and his best friend "Belle".
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Alice Lackas, his grandparents, Jim "Big Dad" and Ilene Schifflett and his Uncle, Charles Lackas.
