Cleo A. Leslie age 85 of Clinton passed away Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Mercy Living Center South. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at the Pape Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 6:00 P.M. Following the services cremation rites will be accorded with burial at a later date.
Cleo was born in Preston, Iowa on August 12, 1929, the daughter of Frederick and Nettie (Maybohm) Neumann. She graduated from Preston High School in 1947 and received her teaching certificate from Iowa State Teachers College 1949 and her BA Degree in Education in 1980. Cleo taught in Belle Plain, Preston, Clinton and for over 30 years taught Social Studies for the Camanche School District. Cleo was member of the Oddfellows, Rebekah Lodge, and the Loyal Order of Moose where she served in many leadership roles. She enjoyed spending time with friends, playing cards and traveling.
Cleo is survived by five children; Carl Leslie, Timothy Leslie, Greg Leslie, Kimberly Leslie and Todd (Erin Montgomery) Leslie all of Clinton; four grandchildren, Lindsay, Alexi, Ethan and Arick; two great grandchildren, Katera Scott and Mavrick Silvia; three sisters, Margie Driscoll of Preston, Shirley Gillespie of Wyoming, MN and Karen (Walt) Empen of Preston; two brothers, Arlo Neumann of Forest City, IA and Carl (Myrna) Neumann of Clinton and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Darrell and Frederick “Fritz” and a sister, Nancy Flood. Memorials may be made to the Camanche School District.
