Donald L. Lessar, 85, of Clinton, passed away, Sunday, November 30, 2014 at Eagle Point Nursing and Rehabilitation Center – Clinton.
Private services and burial will be in the Friendship Cemetery – Dongola, Illinois. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family.
Donald Lawrence Lessar was born on October 26, 1929 in Tamms, Illinois, the son of Millard and Lucille (Sheffer) Lessar. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Army. He received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.
He married Joanna R. Hill in May of 1952. He worked at DuPont for many years as a machine operator.
He was an avid hunter.
He is survived by his wife: Joanna of Clinton; two daughters: Terri (Jim) Weber of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, and Lisa Steen of Clinton; two grandchildren: Jennifer (Brian) Naslund and Jamie (Nick ) Larsen; seven great-grandchildren: Isabelle, Mason, Noah, Alivia, Amelia, Jameson, and Jude.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Harold & Ronald; his sister: Rose and a
son-in-law: Steven.Memorials can be made to the family.
