Mildred E. Whitted, 100, of Clinton, died, Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center – North Campus.
Memorial Services will be 10:30am, Saturday November 15, 2014 at the Sarah Harding Home. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family. Online condolences can be expressed by visiting her obituary at www.snellzornig.com.
Mildred Evelyn Masson was born on October 17, 1914 in Washington, Iowa the daughter of George and Mary (Cherry) Masson. She married Lewis Whitted on February 22, 1936 in Washington, Iowa; he died January 15, 1975.Mildred was a graduate of Washington High School and graduated from Business school in Rock Island.
Mildred and her husband owned and operated Clinton Electric Motors since in 1943 and she and her daughter were co-owners of the Iron Gate Inn.
Mildred was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she served as a Deacon, superintendent of Sunday School and active in it’s church circle. She was active in PEO, and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Mildred is survived by her daughter: JoAnn LaCrosse of Clinton; her daughter-in-law: Peggy Whitted of Clinton; 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren; her sister: Esther Carstensen of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and her brother: George Masson of Washington, Iowa.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons: James & Daniel and her grandson: Dana.
