David J. Irish, 51, of Clinton, died Saturday Nov. 8, 2014, at his home, surrounded by his family from a long battle with cancer. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday Nov. 14 at the Prince of Peace Parish, Clinton. Visitation will be Thursday 4-7 p.m. at the Pape Funeral Home. Burial will be at St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Michael and Shane Irish; Dax, Chad and Jake Zickuhr; and Kyle Irish-Gorvin. Memorials may be given to his children’s educational fund. David was born on Feb. 3, 1963, in Mason City, Iowa, the son of Joel and Elaine (Dougherty) Irish Jr. He graduated from Davenport West High School in 1981. He married Debra Thomsen on May 29, 1993, in Davenport. He worked as carpenter and at Oscar Mayer in Davenport. David was a member of Prince of Peace Parish. He enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking, fishing, and doing yard work.

David is survived by his wife, Debra Irish of Clinton; two children, Destinee Rose Irish of Ames, Iowa and Drew Joseph Irish at home; his mother, Elaine Irish of Bettendorf; two brothers, Daniel (Karen) Irish of Bettendorf and James Irish of Davenport; three sisters, Patricia (Stanley) Allen of Des Moines, Maureen Irish-Gorvin of Iowa City, and Joleen (Doug) Zickuhr of Bettendorf; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father in 2013, his sister-in-law, Barb Irish-Gorvin in 2010, and his grandparents.
