Jesse Murphy passed away peacefully at Mercy Medical Center - North on November 23, 2014.
A Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 2, at Free in Jesus Church in Clinton.
A Funeral Service will take place immediately following the visitation on Tuesday, December 2 at the Church.
Jesse Murphy Jr was born October 14, 1938 in Yazoo City, MS to Jesse Sr and Mattie McCrite Murphy, who precedes him in death. Also preceding him in death, his first wife Bobbie Murphy, 3 siblings Willett Murphy, Arnette Murphy and Inez Murphy Pilgrim and granddaughter Natika Deshun Thomas.
Jesse Murphy Jr was educated in the Yazoo City, MS school system.
Jesse confessed a hope in Christ at Israel Samuel in 2002 where he was baptized under the leadership of Apostle Ambus G Morris. He later joined Lena in holy matrimony on February 9th, 2002. Together they blended their families. Further in their journey, they relocated to Clinton, IA where they were members of Greater Praise Temple under the leadership of Pastor Stephen Echols and Free In Jesus Outreach Ministries under Pastor Jerry Drake, where he was a member until his work was done.
Jesse loved sitting on the porch feeding squirrels and driving to the Mississippi River to just watch the water. He was a quiet man and he stayed to himself but he really enjoyed family gatherings.
Jesse leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Lena Murphy. 6 daughters Mary Murphy of Killeen, TX; Malinda Murphy of Waukegan, IL; Shirley (Charles) Thompson, Donna (Derrick) Fitts and Erica Williams all of Chicago, IL; Bianca (Quinton Sr) Wells of Clinton, IA. 3 sons Jesse (Patricia) Murphy III and Anthony Murphy of Chicago, IL; DeAndre (TaFoya) Williams of Atlanta, GA. 2 brother in laws Vincent and Joe Williams, 1 sister in law Debra Blackman and mother and father in law David and Barbara Sargent. 29 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives, church family and friends.
