The Clinton Herald Thursday May 9, 1968 Lewis C. Mathews, 74, of 2415 Camanche Ave., died Wednesday in the Clinton Manor nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Zion Lutheran church with Rev. M.S. Bredow officiating. Friends may call at the Snell-Smith funeral home beginning at 4 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Springdale cemetery. Mr. Mathews was born Oct. 26, 1893 in Clinton, the son of Lewis C. and Kate Noonan Mathews. He married Anna Duhr, June 12, 1926, in Cedar Rapids. He was a retired brakeman with the Chicago North Western railroad. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen, the American Legion, VFW, the Mexican Border Veterans and a veteran of World War I with the Army. Survivors are his wife and a sister, Miss Josephine Mathews of Clinton. He was preceded in death by a brother and two sister.
