James J. “Jim” Bates, age 52, of Clinton, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2014 at his home. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, October 31, 2014 at the Pape Funeral Home. There will be no funeral services. Cremation rites have been accorded.

Jim was born in Clinton on June 15, 1962, the son of Roland and Kristin (Fryslie) Bates. He attended Clinton Schools and Ashford University. He owned and operated JB Construction. Jim enjoyed automotive work, reading, cooking, music and playing his guitar.

Jim is survived by daughters; Jamie and Katie; sons, Kebo and Joshua; step-sons, Jason, Justin and Aaron; granddaughter, Mercedes; two brothers, Thomas (Brenda) Bates of Clinton and Anthony (Brenda) DeMarr of Clinton; a sister, Julie (Jimmy) Hill of Clinton and his step-father, Ted DeMarr of Hayward, WI.
