Rosa A. Christiansen, age 109, formerly of Miles, passed away Monday, October 13, 2014 at Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison, IL. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at the Miles First Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the service time Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Miles Cemetery. Casket bearers will be, Brent Christiansen, Kurt Mills, Ed Sterk, Rick Martin, Mike Lee, Michael Martin, Chandler Sterk, Gilbert Bott and Keith Jensen. The Pape Funeral Home, Clinton, is assisting the family.

Rosa was born in Clinton County on February 10, 1905, the daughter of Jurgen and Emma (Petersen) Peters. She married August Christiansen on August 24, 1932 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clinton. August passed away on April 29, 1974. She and her husband farmed a 120 acre farm near Miles their entire married life before Rosa moved to Miles in 1975 following her husband’s death. She was a member of the Miles First Presbyterian Church and the Miles Rebekah Lodge. She enjoyed the farm life, gardening, making pies, cakes and cookies, crocheting afghan’s and pillow cases and playing bingo at Resthave.

Rosa is survived by a daughter, Shirley (Kenneth) Mills of Morrison; a daughter-in-law, Carol Christiansen of Miles; 5 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death two sons; Delbert in 2011 and a son infancy and her sister, Frieda Kuchel. Memorials may be made to the Miles Presbyterian Church or Resthave Nursing Home.
