Dwaine L. Van Buer age 88 of Clinton passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at his home. A Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, October 13, 2104 at Prince of Peace Parish. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. Sunday at the Pape Funeral Home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Fulton, IL. Casket bearers will be his grandsons; Crispin and Nick Van Buer, Jeff Hoffman, Jeremy Flagg, Ryan and Chris Van Buer, Scott Crigger, Kyle Leinen, Joel Welsh, Jr. and Alex Van Buer. Honorary casket bearers will be members of the Clinton Lions Club.

Dwaine was born in Albany, IL on July 5, 1926, the son of Maurice and Mary (Bly) Van Buer. He graduated from Mt. Carroll High School in 1944. Dwaine married Donna Mae Peters on May 8, 1948 at St. Mary’s Church, Clinton. He had been employed with E.I. DuPont, Jewell Tea Company, opened D &L IGA grocery store with his brother-in-law and beginning in 1963, owned and operated the Van Buer Insurance and Real Estate Agency, retiring in 2010. Dwaine had served with the U.S. Army, with the 25th Infantry, in the South Pacific, in the occupation of Japan, during W.W. II. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish, Clinton Lions Club for 50 years, Knights of Columbus, Amvets, Valley Oaks Country Club, Fulton Country Club and the Clinton Board of Realtors. He enjoyed extensive world traveling with his wife, and golfing.

Dwaine is survived by his wife, Donna; seven children, Darrel (Ann Chang) Van Buer, PHD, of Los Angeles, Mary Louise (Bob) Petersen of Richland, WA, Ann (Steven) Flagg of Toledo, OH, Lyle (Kathy) Van Buer of Davenport, Paul (Cathi) Van Buer of Clinton, Michael (Sue) Van Buer of Maquoketa and Thomas (Jeni) Van Buer of Clinton; 15 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 4 step-great grandchildren; his aunt, Dorothy Holling of Savanna, IL and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother in infancy; a sister, Frances and a brother, Ronald. Memorials may be made to the Clinton Lions Club or the Greater Iowa Chapter, Alzheimer’s Association, Davenport, Iowa. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
