Mr. Harold A. Green, 86, of Grand Mound, Iowa, died early Sunday morning, September 7, 2014, at Westwing Place, DeWitt, Iowa.

Harold Ambrose Green was born December 22, 1927, on the family farm at rural Grand Mound, to Bernard and Susanna (Dunn Kain) Green. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. Upon completion of his military service, he continued to farm the family farm. Following retirement from farming, Harold worked at Mohr Implement in Eldridge, Iowa, and Tri-County Implement, DeWitt.

He was a lifelong member of Saints Philip and James Catholic Church, Grand Mound, the Holy Name Society and Knights of Columbus. Harold also served on the Calvary Cemetery Board and was a former director of the Grand Mound Telephone Company. He greatly enjoyed spending time over the years as a beekeeper.

On September 14, 1956, Harold was united in marriage to Arlene Malmanger at Saints Philip and James Catholic Church. This union was blessed with eight children, Kurt Green of DeWitt, Gisele (Luther) Pohlmann of Dalton City, Illinois, Brice (Ann) Green of Madrid, Iowa, Craig (Myra) Green of Charlotte, North Carolina, Marcia (Steve) Koester of Gladbrook, Iowa, Seth Green of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Deborah Green of Papillion, Nebraska, and Neal (Becky) Green of DeWitt; twelve grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers and sisters, Joseph (Joan) Green of Holland, Ohio, Grace Kinney of Grand Mound, Frances Burke of DeWitt, Frank Green of Ft. Myers, Florida, and Sister Ida Green, OFS of Tinley Park, Illinois.

Preceding Harold in death were his parents, a half-brother, Leo, his twin-brother, Howard and daughter-in-law, Kay Kellar Green.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, Grand Mound from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 10, 2014, with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 11, 2014, at Saints Philip and James Catholic Church, Grand Mound, with the Rev. Fr. William Kneemiller presiding. Burial and military rites will follow in the church cemetery.
