Friday last the funeral sermon was preached over all that remained of the old Iowa pioneer, John Thomas. He was born in 1812 and has been a resident of Iowa for many years. For the past four years he has lived with his daughter, Mrs. McCoy. After a sickness of less than two weeks he was taken away from his earthly troubles passing away quietly about 4 p.m. on Thursday.
