Walter S. Hansen, Jr, 88, of Johnston, Iowa, formerly of Clinton , passed away, Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Mercy Hospice – Johnston.

Funeral Services will be 10:00am, Saturday, August 9, 2014 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00-8:00pm at the funeral home. There will be a memorial service from 6:00-7:00 on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Heartland Assembly of God Church –Ankeny.

Walter married Barbara J. Suter on November 11, 1945 in Clinton.

Walter’s military service was with the United States Navy during World War II. He was aboard the USS Colorado.

Walter worked as a sales rep. most of his life. He retired in 1991 and moved back to Clinton and worked part time for Ace Hardware.

Walter was a charter member of the Clinton Evangelical Free Church. He attended Heartland Assembly of God in Ankeny, Iowa for the last 7 years.

Walter is survived by his daughter: Karen (Charles) Shisler of East Bethany, New York, his son: Richard (Sue Ellen) Hansen of Johnston, Iowa; 11grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; and his sister-in-law, Alice Hansen of Jackson, Missouri.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a daughter, his siblings and grandson.
