Suzanne E. Schmitt, 70, of Low Moor, passed away, Thursday, August 28, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family.

A Mass will be celebrated at 12:00pm Saturday, August 30, 2014 at the Church of the Visitation – Camanche. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00am to noon at the church. Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Evers, Sean Helphinstine, Richard “Moose” Carber, Alex Dean, Jeremy Brewer and Matt Goben. Following the services her body will be cremated. The Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family. The family requests that you wear red to the services to honor her favorite color. Suzanne Elizabeth Dollieslager was born on June 22, 1944 in Geneseo, Illinois, the daughter of Vincent and Beatrice (Miller) Dollieslager. She graduated from Geneseo High School in 1962.

She married Joseph P. Graham on November 1, 1964 in Minot, North Dakota. She later married John Herman Schmitt, Jr. on July 14, 1973 at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church – Camanche. They received a Catholic validation of their marriage on September 29, 1979 at the Church of the Visitation; he died January 22, 2014.

She was a community services specialist with Community Action of Eastern Iowa, also employed at Clinton Wholesale Foods. She was a Tupperware Rep for 22 years.

She was a member of the Catholic Church of the Visitation in Camanche where she served as a lector, song leader, Eucharistic Minister and was the director of Religious Education for 8 years. She also was a past member of the Low Moor city council.

She is survived by four daughters: Lori Schmitt of Clinton, Carmen Graham of Clinton, Katie Graham of Camanche, and Mary (Jason) Steen of Clinton; three sons: Jay (Marcia) Schmitt of Clinton, Thomas Graham of Widefield, Colorado, and Michael (Tamara) Schmitt of Low Moor, Iowa; 24 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; three brothers David (Nita) Dollieslager of Port Orange, Florida, Tom (Kim) Dollieslager of Erie, Illinois, and Rick (Dawn) Dollieslager of Seaford, Virginia; countless nieces, nephews, other relatives and loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a granddaughter: Zena.

Memorials can be made to American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.
