Joseph E. Barlow, 46, of Clinton, died Sunday, July 27, 2014 in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.

Funeral Services will be 11:00am, Friday, August 1, 2014 at the Gateway Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 9:00am to the service time at the church. Following the burial there will be a gathering at Jimmy John’s – Clinton. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Joseph Edward Barlow was born on September 2, 1967 in Waverly, New York the son of Hugh Joseph and Sue Anne (Neary) Barlow. He was a graduate of Spencer Van-Etten High School – Spencer, New York.

Joseph served in the Army Reserves in high school and also served in the United States Navy during Desert Storm.

Joseph was currently serving as a security guard with G4S Secure Solutions in Davenport.
Joseph was a reading fanatic and especially enjoyed reading about his passion, war history. He enjoyed reenacting war strategy with toy soldiers. Joe was a humanitarian that knew no strangers. He would give you the shirt of his back. He was a selfless volunteer. He was a devoted member of Gateway Baptist Church.

Joseph is survived by his mother: Sue Benninger of Ithaca, New York and his siblings: Hugh Abram (Barbara) Barlow of Harlengen, Texas, Anita Marie (Mark) Halterman of Anchorage, Alaska, Trudy (Howard) Gay of Virginia, Catherine Barlow of Ithaca, New York, Robert “Scott” (Heather) Barlow of Elmira, New York, Kevin Barlow of Grafton, New Hampshire and Peter Barlow of Ithaca, New York; and many nieces, nephews, a great niece and a great nephew.
Joseph was preceded in death by his father.

Memorials can be made to the Disabled American Veterans or the Clinton Humane Society.
