Kenneth A. Thompson, 78, of Clinton, passed away, Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at his home.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, July 5, 2014 at the Elvira Zion Lutheran Church – Elvira. Burial will be in the Elvira Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Brett Fosdyck, Bruce Fosdyck, Jason Thompson, Bruce Thompson, Tim Thompson, and Dan Thompson. Visitation will be from noon to the service hour at the church. Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
Kenneth Arthur Thompson was born August 16, 1935 in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Averill and Matilda (Lobert) Thompson. He was educated in Oakville, Iowa school and was a 1951 graduate of Huron Consolidated Schools.
Kenneth married Barbara Fosdyck in Bettendorf, Iowa on October 19, 1954. He later married Letha Oberman in Elvira on December 18, 1976
Kenneth retired from Wonder Bread in 1993 after working for 25 years. He also worked for Highland Potato Chip Company in Davenport for 10 years.
Kenneth was a member of the Elvira Zion Lutheran Church and a member of the Low Moor Lions Club since 1993. He was an active volunteer with the American Red Cross, Boystown, Camp Courageous, and the American Cancer Society. He was also a supporter of many military organizations.
He is survived by his children, Jeffery (Sue) Thompson of Davenport, Pennie Thompson of Kansas City, Missouri, Lori Bachman of Waukee, Iowa, Jackie (Rick) Klemme of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and Kenneth (Robin) Thompson of Osteen, Florida, 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, siblings: Dorothea Ruggland of Hampton, Iowa, Carol Jean Cade of Bettendorf, A.R. (Sharon) Thompson of New London, Missouri, and Pat (Fred) Perry of Eldridge, Iowa.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, and 1 sister.
Memorials may be made to the Elvira Zion Lutheran Church or the Low Moor Lions Club.
