Doris M. Smith age 84 of LeClaire, passed away Friday, July 4, 2014 at the Alverno Health Care Facility, Clinton. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at the Pape Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 12:30 P.M. Tuesday at the Rock Island National Cemetery.

Doris was born in Clinton, Iowa on February 5, 1930, the daughter of Edward and Irene (Ingwersen) McGuire. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1948. Doris married Wayne Smith on September 27, 1951 in Camanche. Wayne passed away on April 15, 1997. Doris worked as a secretary at E.I. DuPont for 10 years. Doris had a great sense of humor. She enjoyed sewing, going on the riverboats and traveling.

Doris is survived by four children; Jeff Smith of Davenport, Marie Smith of Davenport, Julie (Alan) Carlson of Alpha, IL and Ellie Smith of Eldridge; three grandsons, James, Levi and Bradley; a great grandson, Logan; two sisters-in-law, Bette Smith of Camanche and Gladys Krongard of Clinton and one niece and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a sister, Marjorie Prusia. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Scott County Humane Society.
