Rosemary Ida Wagemester age 78 of DeWitt, Iowa passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at her home after a long battle with kidney failure. She was born August 20th, 1935 to Joseph and Rosella (Bormann) Wagemester. Rosemary grew up on the farm in rural Clinton County. She attended Hampshire #3 County School. Rosemary moved to Clinton in 1958. She worked at FW Means and then General Electric Co. She worked in the General Electric plant in Morrison, IL for 25 years before retiring in September 1995. She moved to DeWitt in December of 1995.
Rosemary enjoyed babysitting her nieces in Clinton and when she moved to DeWitt, she took care of three of her great nephews. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and Alter & Rosary Society.
Visitation will be in the Gathering Center in St. Joseph’s Church in DeWitt from 3-7 PM on Sunday, July 6th. The Rosary will be led by Shirley Sauppe at 2:30 Sunday. Visitation will be again at 9:30 AM Monday morning until the mass at 10:30. A luncheon will follow at Harness Hall. Rosemary’s wishes were to be cremated after the funeral, a burial ceremony will be held at a later date at St. Boniface Cemetery in Clinton, Iowa.
Rosemary is survived by three sisters; Bernice Mootz of DeWitt, Viola (Paul) Frett of Maquoketa, and Joanne (Jim) Diehl of Elizabeth, IL, three brothers; Bernard (Janis) Wagemester of Clinton, Ed (Ardith) Wagemester of DeWitt, and Robert (Donna) Wagemester of Clinton; a brother-in-law John Frett of Maquoketa; 16 nieces and nephews; 30 great nieces and nephews, and 4 great-great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Lucille Wagemester and Mary Agnes Frett; a brother-in-law, Emil Mootz and her step-mother Clara (Boehmer) Wagemester. Memorials can be made to the Kidney Foundation. The Pape Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
