Betty Jane Petersen age 90, died Saturday June 21, 2014 at Mercy Hospital North Clinton, Iowa. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday June 27th at Prince of Peace Parish. Visitation will be held Friday 9:00 AM until the service hour at the church. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Betty was born June 18, 1924 in Clinton, Iowa to Vincent and Elsie (Determann) Lord. She graduated from Lyons High School in 1942. She worked for Northwestern Bell as an operator until her marriage and then became a mother and housewife. Betty married Harold “Pete” Petersen on January 6, 1946 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Clinton, Iowa. Pete preceded her in death on January 5, 2001. Through the years Betty enjoyed many activities ranging from ceramics, golfing, canning, and playing cards with her friends.

Betty is survived by her three children; Marcia (Joe) Wilkins of St. Thomas USVI, Dr. Michael (Theresa) Petersen of Stoughton, WI, Mark (Kaia) Petersen of Muscatine, IA and friend Holly Ebensburger; five granddaughters; Kelly Petersen of Brooklyn, NY, Nicki (Justin)Timm of Oregon, WI, Dr. Renee (Daniel) Caron of Eagan, MN, Mira Petersen (Chris Reisen) of Des Moines, IA and Lea Petersen of Oak Ridge TN., two sisters; Merrette (Al) Horn of Albuquerque, NM, Audry Lemanksi of Clinton, IA and a brother Gene Lord of Clinton, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Dwayne Lord and Vinnie Lord, sisters, Dalores Lange, LaVerne Hansen and Joan Hagemann.
