Robert E. "Tom" Crider, age 87, of Clinton, IA, passed away on June 4th, 2014 at home surrounded by family. Funeral services will be held Monday June 9th at 2 PM at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Monday from Noon until the service hour at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Andover Cemetery in Andover. Casket bearers will be Juli Maresca, Jason Maresca, Justice Foley, Stan Petersen, Larry Goodwin, and Jerry Woods. Honorary pallbearers will be Rocco Maresca, Tom Dithmart, Dale Powell, Steve Bark, and Gerald Farr. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com

Robert was born October 15th, 1926 in Fulton, Il to Charles and Harriet (Galusha) Crider. After graduating from Clinton High School in 1944, he served in the US Navy from 1944-1947. On December 13th, 1947 he married Jean Dithmart. Robert was a Millwright with the local union #2158, completing a 50 year "Lifetime Membership" and had been retired for 25 years. While serving as the first full-time Business Manager for the Millwrights, Robert incorporated not only the Apprentice Program, but the Health and Welfare and Pension Programs. His commitment also helped establish the Vacation and Industrial Fund and the payroll deduction. He was also a member of the Camanche Masonic Blue Lodge #60.

Robert cherished his children and grand-children and always shared his loving nature and sense of humor with them. Robert had a life-long commitment to helping others. Whether it be his family or someone he just met, everyone was received with his warm smile and his helping hand. He will be forever remembered as a kind and giving man and will be greatly missed by many.

Robert is survived by his wife Jean, son Tom Crider of Clinton, Iowa; daughter Carolyn Maresca and son-in-law Rocco Maresca of Davenport, Iowa; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers (Alfred, Raymond, Chuck), 1 sister (Vera), and daughter-in-law (Victoria).
