Norma E. Martinsen age 93, a former resident of Prairie Hills in Clinton, passed away Friday, May 2, 2014 at Eagle Point Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery.

Norma was born in Clinton on January 4, 1921, the daughter of Henry and Gertrude (Mewherter) Vining. She graduated from Clinton High School. Norma married Axel Martinsen on August 28, 1940 in Wapello, Iowa. Axel passed away on June 10, 2008. Norma was the mailroom supervisor for Burpee Seed Company for many years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and had been a member of the YWCA, Loyal Order of Moose and Fulton Country Club. She enjoyed swimming and had traveled to every state except Hawaii.

Norma is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Dan) Treakle of Fairbanks, Alaska; two grandchildren, Wendy (Robert) Souza and Charlotte (Steve) Weatherby both of Fairbanks; a great granddaughter, Kaylin Souza and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four sisters, Florence Mook, Verna Mae Meier, Ruth Vogel and Henrietta Paulsen and four brothers, LeRoy, Edwin, James and John Vining.

The family would like to thank the staff at Mercy Medical Center, Prairie Hills and Eagle Point Nursing Home for their loving care over the years. Memorials may be made to the Clinton Humane Society or Mercy Medical Center. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
