Mary T. (Ranson) Stender, 87, of Moline, Illinois, formerly of Grand Mound, Iowa, passed away early Monday morning June 30, 2014, at Trinity Medical Center in Bettendorf, Iowa.

Mary was born July 12, 1926, in rural Grand Mound, to Wilfrid and Loretta (Mangan) Ranson. Mary was united in marriage to Matthias Stender on November 25, 1948, at Saints Phillips and James Catholic Church, Grand Mound. The couple farmed and raised their family near Grand Mound.

Mary was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt, and later of St. Pius Catholic Church, Rock Island, Illinois. She was a huge fan of Notre Dame sports, and was known for her baking skills. Her chocolate chip cookies will be missed by her entire family.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Matthias; sons, Kevin of Las Vegas, Nevada, Craig (Margot) of Littleton, Colorado, Loren of Lost Nation, Iowa, and daughter, Mary Renee Stender of Moline, Illinois; grandchildren, Cole and Jesse Stender of Colorado, and Breanna, Reid, and Nicholas Stender of Nevada.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. Thursday at St Joseph's Catholic Church in DeWitt, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Grand Mound. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph's School or for masses.
