Verna Hansen, 86, of Sun City Center, Florida formerly of Clinton, Iowa passed away Monday, January 6, 2014 at South Bay Hospital.

She was born October 29, 1927 in Miles, Iowa the daughter of Mathias and Irene (Gruhn) Moeller. She married Melvin Hansen, November 30, 1957. Verna graduated from Miles High School. She retired from Eagles Discount Supermarket in March, 1984 after 22 years of service. When living in Clinton she was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. She and Mel moved permanently to Florida in 2005 to enjoy their senior years.

She is survived by a son Randall Nielsen (Cathryn) of Temple Terrace, Florida, a daughter Nancy Nielsen, Sun City Center, Florida. Three grandchildren Sara (Dan) Drayer, Longwood, Florida, Ryan (Katie) Nielsen Plymouth, Minnesota, and Corporal Adam (Jennifer) Nielsen Oceanside, California, two great granddaughters Carly in California and Lexie in Minnesota and one step great grandson Alex in Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, brother, and loving husband.

Memorial Services will be 11:00am, Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Zion Lutheran Church. A luncheon will follow the services. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
