The Clinton Herald Thursday May 12, 1910 p. 5 Mrs. C. Bohnson Called by Death Mrs. Catherine Bohnson, 717 Sunnyside avenue, responded to the call of death at 2 o'clock this morning at Agatha hospital with four of her five sons gathered around her bedside, one son of Portland, Ore., being unable to reach the city in time. For the past thirty years, Mrs. Bohnson had been a resident of Clinton, coming to this country and city with her husband, Bandick Bohnson, who died in 1902, from Germany. Mrs. Bohnson's death was the result of a tumor for which she underwent an operation last Monday afternoon. The operation was successful but she had been suffering from the tumor for the past three years and that fact, coupled with her advanced age of 72 years, caused her to be too weak to stand the shock. Three of her sons, Jens L., Anton F., and Bernard of Chicago and one son, J.M. of Chicago, were at the bedside when Mrs. Bohnson answered the final summons. The other son, I.M. of Portland, Ore., could not reach Clinton in time and a message from him is awaited before the funeral arrangements are made. Mrs. Bohnson was born in Germany on February 20, 1838. She was wedded to Bandick Bohnson in 1863. About thirty years ago Mr. and Mrs. Bohnson removed to America, coming almost directly to Clinton. Mr. Bohnson died in 1902. Mrs. Bohnson had always been a faithful member of the German Lutheran church in Clinton and was a woman strong in her Christian faith, her lovable qualities endearing her to a host of friends, who will join the sons in mourning the death of their mother, always devoted to her family and its interest, rearing her sons so that she saw them rise to places of eminence among their fellow men. J.L. Bohnson is assistant cashier at the Peoples Trust & Savings bank, Anton F. Bohnson is teller at the Clinton National bank and Bernard Bohnson is superintendent of the Clinton Street Railway company. Although the funeral arrangements will not be completed until a message is received from I.M. Bohnson, the services will be at the late residence and will be in charge of Rev. L. Seehase, pastor of the German Lutheran chruch.
