The Clinton Herald Tuesday January 27, 1953 p. 9 Mrs. L.M. Jefferies Sr., 64, died today in Geneva, Ill., where she had been making her home for two months. Friends may call at the Snell funeral home beginning Wednesday evening. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home with a reader from the First Church of Christ Scientist in charge. Private cremation services will be held in Davenport with interment to follow in Clinton Memorial Park cemetery. Mrs. Jefferies was the former Theodora Irene Sylvanus, born April 3, 1889, in Clinton, to Theodore and Frances Chessman Sylvanus. She was married to Lyle M. Jefferies, June 21, 1913. He died in 1942. Until recent months, she had lived with a daughter, Mrs. Robert Daly, in Richmond,Ind. since 1949. She is survived by two children, Lyle M. Jefferies Jr., Clinton, and Margaret (Mrs. Robert Daly) of Richmond, Ind.; four grandchildren, a brother, Charles M. Sylvanus, Swarthmore, Pa., and a sister, Miss Margaret Sylvanus, Albuquerque, N.M. Her parents and husband preceded her in death.
