The Clinton Herald Friday October 25, 1918 p. 6 J.Q. Jefferies, who was called to Cheyenne, Wyoming, earlier in the week on account of the illness of his son Carl, has wired that the young man died yesterday morning. He will return with the body, accompanied by the young man's wife and daughter, the party exprected to arrive tomorrow noon. Private funeral services will be held Sunday and friends are asked to kindly omit sending flowers. Carl Jefferies was born in Clinton 28 years ago August 18 and grew to manhood in this city, a likable chap who had many friends among the young men of his age.
