The Daily Herald Clinton, Iowa Wednesday August 8, 1894 Death from Heart Disease The Wife of ex-county Superintendent Jefferies Dies Suddenly Mrs. Jefferies, wife of ex-County Superintendent J.Q. Jefferies, died very suddenly at her home, Seventh avenue and Kenilworth court, about four o'clock yesterday afternoon, from heart disease. Her death was entirely unexpected, as she appeared to be in the best of health up to within an hour of her death. After dinner yesterday she dressed the children and gave them permission to go to the home of a neighbor to spend the afternoon. She then busied herself with household duties and appeared her usual good spirits. Mr. Jefferies was not feeling well and had remained home after dinner. His wife suddenly and without warning fell to the floor and within half an hour later breathed her last. Mr. Jefferies alarmed the neighbors and went for a physician but his wife was beyond the reach of medical skill. Mr. and Mrs. Jefferies have been married for twelve years and four children - three boys and one girl - have come to bless their union. The children are Fred, Lyle and Carl and their baby sister Diana. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock from the residence.
