Larry G. Wilson, 90, of Camanche, passed away, Monday, March 17, 2014 at Prairie Hills – Clinton.

Funeral Services will be 10:30am Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the First Baptist Church – Camanche. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the Camanche VFW. Serving as pallbearers will be Larry “Tray” Wilson, Jeffery Wilson, Joshua Wilson, Kerry Reggelsen, Aaron Reggelsen, and Kevin C. Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be Terrie Ann Meyer, Bobbi Knutsen, Rebecca Petig, Amber Weispfenning, Lisa Suessmith, Amanda Wilson, and Andrea Meese. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory.

Larry G. Wilson was born on December 4, 1923 in Princeton, Iowa, the son of Howard and Pearl (Tucker) Wilson. He was a 1942 graduate of Clinton High School. He married Mildred “Millie” Courts on November 15, 1942 in Kahoka, Missouri.

Larry enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II and served from 1945-1946.
Larry was employed with the Chicago Northwestern Railroad for 41 years retiring in 1985 as a switchman.

Larry was a member of First Baptist Church in Camanche, the Camanche VFW, and the UTU Railroad Union. He was a Boy Scout leader, played and coached softball in the church league well into his 70’s and was a commercial fisherman.

Larry is survived by his wife of seventy-one years: Millie; their children: Larry (Dolores) Wilson of Camanche, Roger (Mary Lou) Wilson of Clinton, Rita (James) Reggelsen of Clinton, Roy (Pam) Wilson of Fulton, Kevin (Lynn) Wilson of Anahuac, Texas, and Mark (Janet) Wilson of Iowa City, Iowa, 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; and a sister: Harriet Walker of Post Falls, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister and a son and daughter in infancy.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to First Baptist Church – Camanche or the Camanche VFW.

The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff of Prairie Hills, Beacon of Hope Hospice and Mercy Hospice for their care and compassion shown to Larry.
