Virginia L. Bengtson was born on August 21, 1930 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Andrew and Luella (Ulmer) Bengtson. She was a 1948 graduate of Lyons High School. Ginny was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church, where she met her future husband, Glenn D. Jackson, in Luther League. They were married at Zion on April 14, 1951.

Ginny and Glenn farmed north of Clinton for many years. Ginny loved life on the farm, especially time spent outside in the garden. She was known for her baking, including cherry pie, apple crisp, chocolate chip bars and candy cane cookies. Music was also an important part of Ginny’s life. She and Glenn enjoyed square dancing and Ginny sang in the church choir for most of her life.

But faith and family were the most important things in Ginny’s life, and inspired her to make any occasion a celebration – to be documented by countless photos.

Ginny is survived by two daughters: Linda (John) Jorgensen of Clinton, Julie (David) Neve of Des Moines; two sons: Dan Jackson of Armonk, New York, Bill (Linda) Jackson of Clinton; eight grandchildren: Joshua (Jen) Duey, Jonathan (Sarah) Duey, Katie (Michael) Zapata, Angela Neve, Luke Neve, Emily (Joe) Mokrycki, Rebecca Jackson, and Kyle Jackson; three step-children: Ben Jorgensen, Andy Jorgensen, and Michael (Shea) Jorgensen; ten great-grandchildren: Ruthie Duey, Micah Duey, Emelia Duey, Aubrey Duey, Alex Duey, Rachel Zapata, Michael Zapata, Phoebe Zapata, Israel Zapata, and Elijah Zapata; and sister Dianne Bengtson of Clinton.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

The family requests that memorials be made to the radio ministry at Zion Lutheran Church.
