Charles T. Wilson Sr. age 63 of Clinton, died Monday Jan. 6, 2014 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Monday Jan 13th at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Church in Clinton. Visitation will be held Sunday Jan. 12th from 4 – 7 PM at the Pape Funeral Home. Following the service, cremation rites will be accorded and burial will be held Tuesday 1:00 PM at St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery, where military honors will be held. Charles was born on May 13, 1950 in Clinton the son of Harold and Ida (Chase) Wilson.

He attended Clinton Schools. He served in the US Army for over 26 years, retiring as an

E-8 Master Sergeant. He served during the Vietnam Conflict, serving as a Field Artillery Senior Sergeant and the Military Police. He received numerous awards, including the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Service Star, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. He married Karen Phillips on May 19, 2001 in Clinton. He was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Church, Clinton, American Legion, and Big Brothers / Big Sisters Program in Clinton, which Devante was his “little brother”. He enjoyed playing cards, games, yard work, gardening, camping, and watching military movies. He loved his dogs Emma, Karlee, and especially Rusty. Charles was an organ & tissue donor.

Charles is survived by his wife, Karen Wilson of Clinton; 8 children, Kandra (Tim) Hartman of Savanna, IL, Charles Jr. (Lori) Wilson of Myrtle Beach, SC, Jeffrey (Amanda) Wilson of Colorado Springs, CO, Steven Wilson of Moncks Corner, SC, Missy Hamilton of North Charleston, SC, Brian Abdelhadi of London, England, Carolyn (David DenHaan) Myers of Ames, IA, and Lori Myers of Las Vegas, NV; 13 grandchildren, two step grandchildren, and two great grandchildren; two brothers, Harold (Cindy) Wilson and Gary (Rhonda) Wilson both of Clinton; and a sister, Kathy Rice of Clinton; and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
