Clarice F. Hilgendorf, age 78, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center North, surrounded by her family. A Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Prince of Peace Parish. Her nephew, The Very Rev. Patrick Hilgendorf, V.F. and The Very Rev. Kenneth Kuntz, V.F. will preside. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Pape Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery. Casket bearers are JT Cooley, Mark Cooley, Terry Kieffer, Gene Kieffer, Richard Keeney and Dave Frett. Honorary casket bearers are James Hilgendorf, Donald Hilgendorf, Tom Hilgendorf and William Hilgendorf.

Clarice was born in Preston, IA on March 9, 1935, the daughter of Clarence and Ella (Cain) McCarthy. She graduated from Mount St. Clare Academy in 1953. She married Jerome Hilgendorf on May 6, 1978 in Sigourney, IA. Clarice was employed at the Alverno Healthcare Facility in Clinton as a CNA. Clarice has been a member of Prince of Peace Parish. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Clarice is survived by her husband Jerry; two sisters Mary Holle of Clinton and Joan Kieffer of Preston, IA; 5 brother-n-laws James (Marlene) Hilgendorf of Clinton; Donald (Sharon) Hilgendorf of Lake Tomahawk, WI; Thomas (Jan) Hilgendorf of Clinton and William Hilgendorf of Mt. Carroll, IL; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brother-n-laws, Gerald Holle and John Hilgendorf. Memorials may be made to the family.
