Eugene V. Freels Sr.,65,327 2nd Ave. N. died at 2 a.m. Mon. in Veteran's hospital,Iowa City, where he had been a patient for the past six months. The body is at the Delaney funeral home, where friends may call beginning at 8 p.m. today.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Bethel M.E. church with Rev. W. A. Simpson officiating. Burial will be in Springdale cemetery.
Eugene Freels was born Dec. 28, 1890 in Kansas City Mo.,the son of Abraham and Nettie Braden Freels. A veteran of World War I he served with the American Expeditionary forces, Company 809 of the Pioneer Infantry. He came to Clinton 34 yrs ago and married Mary Wallace at Clarence, Mo. on Dec. 8,1919. Surviving are his wife; one son, Eugene V. Freels Jr. and three grandsons, all of Clinton;three brothers, Abraham Freels Jr. and Estil Freels of New York,N.Y. and Sylvester of St Joseph, Mo.; one half-sister Mrs. Frances Johnson of Omaha, Neb. one aunt, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
