Virginia Jordan Phelps, 87, of Camanche, died Sunday, November 10, 2013 at Mercy Living Center – South.

Going Home Services will be 1:00pm, Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Gateway Baptist Church- Clinton. Burial will follow in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Dave Phelps, Paul Mills, Kevin Wisor, Doug Grear, Rex Goodell, and Gary Olson. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11:00am to the service time at the church. Virginia Stewart was born on May 7, 1926 in Wayne, Michigan, the daughter of Cecil and Alma (Harper) Stewart. She married George Jordan on August 8, 1940 in Greenup, Kentucky, he died January 10, 1981. She later married Russell Phelps on June 14, 12003 in Clinton; he died November 4, 2007.

Virginia was employed with International Paper. She was a member of Gateway Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also loved tending to her flowers and shopping and going out to eat with her daughters.

Virginia is survived by three daughters: Jeanne Edfors of East Moline, Illinois, Mary (Dave) Phelps of Camanche, and Barbara (Paul) Mills of Camanche; 11 grandhchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 25 great-great grandchildren; two sisters: Rosemary (Paul) Tabor of North Ridgeville, Ohio, and Dorothy (Don) Shaffer of Elyria, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, both husband, 2 brothers, one sister, three grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
