Eleanor M. Smith, 74, of Clinton, died Sunday, October 20, 2013 at her home.

Funeral Services will be 10:30am, Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Dan Budde, Andy Nixon, Michael Chad Roseland, Alvin Kohl, Jr., Jason Long, and Travis Budde Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the funeral home. Eleanor M. Kohl was born on September 28, 1939 in Clinton, the daughter of Alvin and Florence (Roggendorf) Kohl. She married Donald Petersen on March 3, 1955 in Clinton; he preceded her in death. The married Edwin O. Smith on June 17, 1983 in Clinton, Iowa.

Eleanor was a homemaker. She worked at the Clinton Garment Factory, also at Ricketts Bag Company and a shrimp company in Tampa, Florida.

Eleanor enjoyed playing cards, bingo, visiting the casino, and spending time with her family.

Eleanor is survived by her husband: Edwin of Clinton; four daughters: Diana Petersen of Clinton, Linda (Daniel) Budde of Clinton, Donna Hartson of Clinton, and Eleanor Sue (Andy) Nixon of Clinton, a great-grandson that she raised as a son: Tyler Hansen of Clinton; 21 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers: Donald Kohl of Clinton and Alvin Kohl, Jr. of Clinton.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, her ex-husband, four sisters, and three brothers.
