Mildred “Millie” L. Stange, 95, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away Thursday, July 04, 2013 at Mercy North, Clinton.
Memorial services will be 11:00 AM Monday, July 8, 2013 at Saint Paul Lutheran Church, Clinton, with Pastor Elizabeth Liggett officiating. As per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until the service hour Monday at the church. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery.
Millie was born January 14, 1918 in Clinton, the daughter of Henry and Christine (Petersen) Lass. She lived all of her life in Clinton.
Millie attended schools in Clinton. She was a member of the G.A.A. Club in High School and loved sports. She was a member of Saint Paul Lutheran Church for many years.
She was a dispatcher for Veteran Cab for 20 years and also worked at A.C. Nielsen Clearing House for 20 years, retiring in 1982.
She married Robert Baker in May 1935. They had four children, Marilyn, Robert, Karen and Richard. Bob died in 1966 after 31 years of marriage. Millie then married Earl Blinkinsop, he died in July 1973. She married Wilbur “Bill” Stange in 1975, he died in 1995.
Millie was a volunteer for the Red Cross Blood Mobile for 17 years. After retiring she was a hostess on weekends for her daughter and son-in-law at the Porthole on Main Avenue and also the Porthole in Fulton.
She liked to sew and do cross words, was a diehard Cubs fan and enjoyed golf with Tiger.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Groh of Clinton, whom she lived with; step-daughters, Kitty Willimack of DeWitt, IA and Kathy (Ross) Falion of New Jersey; step-sons, Darryl (Delores) Blinkinsop of Camanche, Dale (Mary) Blinkinsop of Clinton and Tom (Deb) Stange of Fulton; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, her daughter, son-in-law, Larry Groh and three grandsons.
Memorials may be made to Habitat for Humanity or Wounded Warriors.
