Gary Michael Pederson, 65, of York, Pennsylvania, formerly of Camanche, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2013 at York Hospital in York, Pennsylvania.

A Memorial service and internment will be held, Friday, July 19, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. at the Rock Island National Cemetery near the city of Rock Island, Illinois, where full military honors will be conducted. The Rock Island Arsenal asks that those attending the service meet at the Formal Wear parking lot at 1534 River Road, Moline, Illinois at 1:00pm to form a processional into the cemetery. Gary was born April 23, 1948 in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, to Martin and Ethel Gladys (Gulsvig) Pederson. He graduated from Camanche High School in Camanche, Iowa in 1967. He proudly served his country in Viet Nam as a member of the United States Army.

Gary married Janet Bell Hayes on June 9, 2009 in York, Pennsylvania. They enjoyed taking motorcycle trips and camping together. Gary also enjoyed taking trips on his Harley to visit friends and relatives all over the United States.

He worked at Catepillar in Bettendorf, Iowa and retired from Harley Davidson, after working many years at the assembly plant in York, Pennsylvania.

He is survived by his wife, Janet, brothers Richard (Cynthia) Pederson of Camanche, Iowa, LeRoy (Linda) Pederson of Arkansas, and Craig (Sue) Pederson of Minneapolis, Minnesota, step-grandchildren, daughter, Stacy Pederson and granddaughter, and many loved nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorials may be made to the Patriots Riders of Bettendorf or the VFW of Camanche, Iowa. He was preceded in death by both parents.
