Mrs. Alice (Chandler) Stotesbery, age 92, of Richfield, Minnesota, formerly of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away peacefully in her sleep at The Pines Assisted Living Care Unit, in Richfield, on Tuesday morning, June 25, 2013.

The family will greet relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, on Friday, July 5, from 10 until 11:30 a.m. A Service of Christian Burial will be follow at 12:00 noon in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, rural Calamus, with the Reverend Sarah E. Kretzmann officiating. A meal will follow in the Church basement. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.

Mrs. Stotesbery, the former Alice Maude Chandler was born on July 4, 1920 in DeWitt, to Alfred and Edith (Spence) Chandler, immigrants from Yorkshire, England. She was educated in DeWitt, and graduated from DeWitt High School in 1938. Alice was devoted to her family and after raising her own children, provided daycare for her grandchildren, Kristin and Daniel. While living in DeWitt, she worked in a 5 and 10 store. Alice worked in the cafeteria at West Jr. High in Richfield, but worked longest for the March of Dimes. Alice loved following the Minnesota Twins baseball team and could often be found watching the games on TV.

Alice was also very involved in her church communities. While living in Grand Mound, Iowa, she was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church at rural Calamus, Iowa. There she taught both Sunday School and Bible School, and was active in the Circle and Couple's Club. After moving to Minnesota, Alice became an active member of Woodlake Lutheran Church where she also taught Sunday School.

Alice is survived by her children and their spouses, Jim (Jan) Stotesbery of Rochester, Minnesota, Laura (Mark) Fischer of Orlando, Florida, and Corrine (Steve) Erb of Eden Prairie, Minnesota. She has five grandchildren, Pam (Shawn) Smith, Kristin (Lorin) Skoglund, Daniel Erb, and Alicia and Marisa Fischer, and one great-grand child, Allison Smith. Alice is also survived by her twin sister, Edith (Chandler) Gleason, her younger sister, Rose (Chandler) Galitz, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stewart Stotesbery; her parents, Alfred and Edith (Spence) Chandler; a brother, sisters and brothers-in-law, John Chandler, Elizabeth (Leonard) Bowstead, Grace (Donald) Farber, Mary (Lester) Anderson, Robert Gleason, and John Galitz. Alice was also preceded in death by numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A sincere thank you is extended to the staff at the Pines Assisted Living Care Unit for their dedicated care of Alice.
