The Clinton Herald July 28, 1938 DeWitt, July 28 - (Special) - John F. Brandenburg, died in his home, 723 West Fifth street, at 11:45 a.m. today after a lingering illness. Mr. Brandenburg was born in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, Aug. 16, 1859, and came to the United States with his parents in 1862. The family settled in Center township. He was married Sept. 30, 1882, in Lyons to Albertine Thiede and for a number of years they lived on a farm in DeWitt township. They moved to DeWitt in 1918. Mrs. Brandenburg died April 17, 1936. He is survived by three sons and four daughters, Ernest, at home; John and Henry of Clinton; Mrs. Harry Kracht, Calamus; Mrs. Hans Mahrens, Mrs. George Luckstead and Mrs. Marion Buhman, all of Clinton. A prayer service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the home and funeral services at 2 p.m. in the McGinnis funeral home. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery
