Mrs. Margaret E. "Marge" Donnelly, 84, of Clinton, Iowa, formerly of DeWitt, Iowa, died Thursday morning, May 16, 2013 at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport, Iowa.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2013, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, with a Vigil Service at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will continue from 10:45 until 11:45 a.m. Monday, May 20, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 noon, Monday, in the Church. The Reverend Father Paul Connolly will officiate with interment in the Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Patrick McAvan, Tony McAvan, Nathan McAvan, Eric Clark, Mike Clark, Alec Clark, Kevin Donnelly, Brian Donnelly, Colin Donnelly and Tom Fisher.

Mrs. Donnelly was born Margaret Schoofs on May 4, 1929, in Pocahontas, Iowa, to Joseph and Sophia (Homan) Schoofs. Marge graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School in Pocahontas, and was a graduate of the American Institute of Business in Des Moines. On October 4, 1949, she was united in marriage to John C. "Cal" Donnelly at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pocahontas. They resided in Sherburn, Minnesota, until moving to DeWitt, in 1967. In addition to being a homemaker, Marge worked as a secretary at various local businesses. Cal preceded Marge in death on October 11, 2001. She had resided in Clinton for the past four years.

Marge was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt, and the Altar and Rosary Society. She also was an active member of Mercy Hospital Auxiliary in Clinton. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a great joy in her life. She enjoyed playing cards as well as watching and attending sporting events, especially those of her family.

Surviving are her children, Jackie (Richard) Clark of Bettendorf, Iowa, Peggy McAvan of DeWitt, Dr. Robert (Lynn) Donnelly of Clinton and Tracy (Mark) Fisher of Bettendorf; grandchildren, Eric (Cherie) Clark, Mike (Rebecca) Clark, Alec (Jessica) Clark, Patrick (Melissa) McAvan, Tony (Kara) McAvan, Nathan (Ashley) McAvan, Kevin (fiancée, Merry-Lynn McDonald) Donnelly, Brian (fiancée, Lindsey Delavan) Donnelly, Erin Donnelly, Colin Donnelly, Tom Fisher and Maggie Fisher; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Grace Michael of Grayslake, Illinois; nieces and nephews.

Preceding Marge in death in addition to her husband were a son-in-law, Dale McAvan, her parents, three sisters and two brothers.

The family sends their special thanks to Dr. Saadi Albaghdadi and staff in Clinton, for all of the wonderful care they gave to Marge over the past 26 years.
