MRS. CHARLES N. ANDERSON Mrs. Anna Anderson, wife of Charles N, Anderson of Goose Lake, passed away last evening after a brief illness of pneumonia. (Actually she died during the Spanish flu epidemic which claimed the lives of many in this time period. My grandmother, her daughter Sikie Gesene, remembered the ringing of the church bells celebrating the Armistice, the end of World War I.Other members of the family also had contracted the Spanish flu, but recovered.) Anna Peters was born in Elkhorn, Whiteside County, Illinois to Willhelm Herman and Margaretha Peters on August 14, 1882. She attended school at Cedar Creek. Her family later moved to Clinton, Iowa where she married Charles N. Anderson (son of Frederich and Hanna Andresen as the name is spelled on their gravestones in Elvira Cemetery. Some of their descendents changed the spelling to Andersen and Charles to Anderson). Left to mourn her death are her husband, her daughters: Frieda, Sikie, Josephine, Anna, and Hannah. She leaves one son, Nicholas (who changed the spelling of his last name to Andresen). Also surviving are her parents Mr. and Mrs. Willhelm Peters of Clinton, her brother, John Peters, of Rochester, Minnesota, and William of Clinton, two sisters: Mrs. Chris Outzen and Mrs. Peter Nelson of Clinton. Funeral services will be held in Goose Lake. She and her husband are buried in Ingwersen (also known as Center Grove) Cemetery and now her son, Nicholas Andresen and his wife Esther are also buried there.
