Austin Richard Blount, 31, went to his eternal resting place on Thursday, April 18, 2013 in Clinton County as a result of a traffic accident.

Funeral Services were 7:00pm, Monday, April 22, 2013 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory with Father Joseph Nguyen officiating. Visitation was from 3:00pm to the service time Monday at the funeral home. Following his wishes he was cremated following the services. Private family burial was Tuesday at St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery, Clinton. Also a portion of his cremains will be scattered in Cambodia at a later date. Austin was born on January 23, 1982 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Eileen (Taylor) Wisor and Charles J. Blount. He graduated from Camanche High School in 2001.

He attended Camanche schools kindergarten through high school graduation in 2001. Austin was a Class 2A 1st Team all defensive lineman his senior year playing football. He participated in many sports and was a member of Team Weber Powerlifting Club since the age of 13. His other interests included collecting sports memorabilia, bodybuilding, traveling, and shooting pool. He had a love for the “Asian culture” and has many friends around the world. He was especially close with his nieces and nephews. Their faces lit up when he came home to visit because he was so much fun. He excelled while working for Comcast and was top sales associate in Minneapolis for several years.

He will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends. Survivors include his mother: Eileen (Jerry) Wisor of Camanche; his father: Charles (Kerry Leahy) Blount of Camanche; his siblings, Monica (Greg) Mabee of Minneapolis, Jenny Blount of Clinton, Matt (Anne) Blount of Camanche, Whitney (Ryan) Veenstra of Clinton, and Alex (Ashley Newell) Blount of Clinton; his loving nieces and nephews: Carmen, Danny, Kenny, Grant, Greta, Grayson, Anthony, and Olivia; his step-grandmother: Mary Wisor of Clinton; his “brother from another mother” Joe Heng 0f Minneapolis, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents; Howard and Betty Taylor, and paternal grandparents; Charles E. and Veronica Blount.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made for the establishment of an educational fund for his nieces and nephews.

Austin was known as a giving person and even in death his giving continues as his donation of tissues will touch the lives of as many as 50 people through the Iowa Donor Network.
