Pertis J. Brown age 61 of Davenport, IA, formerly of Clinton, died Saturday April 20, 2013 at his home. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Saturday at the Church of the Open Door, Clinton. Visitation will be held Saturday 11:00 am until the service hour at the church. Following the funeral service a luncheon will be served at the U-Turn Building of the church and cremation rites will be conducted. The Pape Funeral Home in Clinton is assisting the family. Pertis was born on May 10, 1951 in Clarksdale, MS, the son of Armelia (Brown) Harlston. He enjoyed going fishing and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and his dog, Tiny. He worked as an auto mechanic most of his life.

Pertis is survived by his six children, Beverly Williams, Derrick Brown, and Latonya Brown all of Chicago, IL, Kenneth Herron of Clinton, Brandy (Jonathan) Dunlap and Kimberly Logsdon both of Davenport, IA; 15 grandchildren and two great grandsons; his loving partner of the past 22 years, Deborah Logsdon; two sisters, Deborah Logan and Beverly Williams both of Clinton; four brothers, Ben Harlston III, Eric Harlston, Kenyatta Harlston all of Clinton, IA, and Duane Harlston of Nebraska; an aunt, Shirley and an uncle, Sterling; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, step father, and a brother.
