Mr. Richard J. Benthin, 70, of Long Grove, Iowa, died Wednesday morning, April 10, 2013 in the comfort of his home.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013. A Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Parkview Lutheran Church.

Richard John Benthin was born September 26, 1942, in Watertown, South Dakota, to Herbert and Emma (Schaff) Benthin. He married the former Alice Schulz May 25, 1963, in Waubay, South Dakota. Dick worked at various jobs during his life, many construction related.

He will be remembered for his gardening and truck farming. Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing, visiting with folks, and the poultry that he raised.

Surviving are his wife, Alice; children, Brian (Cathie) Benthin of Clinton, Iowa, Roxanne Benthin and Quentin "Bubba" (Kim) Benthin of Long Grove; grandchildren, Conner Kelly, Morgan Benthin and Haylee Benthin; siblings, Marvin, Bill, Orlan, Daniel and Janice.

Preceding him in death were a daughter, Dawn Kelly, his parents and siblings, Dean, LeRoy, Herman, Lloyd, Lenora and Phyllis.
