Kimberly A. Van Horn, 48, of Clinton died Saturday, March 30, 2013 in her home surrounded by family and her beloved yellow lab Mia, after a long courageous, hard fought battle with diabetes and end stage renal failure. In following Kim’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded.
A Musical Celebration will be held Saturday, April 6, at 11:00 AM at the First Congregational Church in Clinton with Associate Pastor Tami Ebensberger and Pastor Michael Brewer officiating. Visitation with family and friends will be held from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
Kimberly Ann Van Horn was born the daughter of Pat (Bengston) and the late Dwain Van Horn. She graduated in 1983 from Northeast High School and continued her education with an Associates Degree from Mt. St. Clare College.
Kim was very involved with her Vocal musical talents. She continued being involved with the music and theatre programs at Northeast High School. She was the Soprano soloist for the Clinton performance of the Handel’s Messiah numerous times. She was also the director of the choir at First Congregational Church and worked at the church as the activities coordinator and youth director. Kim also worked at Mt. St. Clare in the Admissions Office.
Kim and her life partner Laura moved to Chicago where she worked for the National Easter Seals in the Marketing Department. They moved back to the Clinton area as Kim’s health deteriorated to be closer to family and friends. Kim’s memory will be cherished by her life partner Laura Meyer, her Mother and Step-Dad, Pat and John Wenzel, her brother Kory Van Horn (Ronda Rannow) and his children whom she adored, Kyle and Kassidy Van Horn, three step sisters and six step brothers, her God-children, Sam and Abbi Moraetes and their Mom, a very special friend, Sheryl Moraetes and Laura’s family Jane, Tom, Tim and Kathy, along with their children Logan and Chloe (Matt) Carpenter.
Her father, Dwain Van Horn, and her maternal and paternal grandparents precede Kim in death. Memorials may be made to the Northeast High School Music and Drama Departments.
